BT has seen all the good things taking place in its favor of late. The company has been doing really well in more than one ways. In fact when it comes to broadband, BT has quite literally led the race with its “Race to Infinity” campaign among others. The company is looking at offering the next generation of advanced fibre optic broadband to its customers and all at reasonable prices.
It is also concentrating on giving these services to the more remote and far off areas of UK. This has been much admired by people all the more. In the mean while the company has also seen soaring profits because of its earnest strivings to give the customers nothing short of the best. The company has added another forty thousand customers to its base in the latest quarter.
Even its global services business, that caters to multinationals and public sector bodies, is doing great of late and garnering the much needed profits and steadily at that. Courtesy a cost-cutting programme that saw as many as thirty thousand jobs being lost and all in a span of two years, BT has done some additional profits here as well. BT today has an impressive base of 5.5m customers. Of these a superb188, 000 broadband customers were added in the third quarter itself.
This is a very impressive growth indeed and if sustained will take BT to reaching newer heights. The company’s group pre-tax profit increased a brilliant 30% to touch £531m for the third quarter to December 31.Even its overall free cash flow saw a boost by 70%. Ian Livingston, chief executive spoke of how the recent months have been phenomenal and nothing short of it for the company. Then of course there is the gigantic figure of £2bn plus that the company is investing to build a high-speed network that will be offered to 15m homes. This target is to be achieved by the year 2015.
In the mean while even Vodafone is doing great with its smart phone section even as the demand is soaring by the day. Their UK revenue has been much better by 7% which is comparing with the revenue for last year same period. Their overall revenue in the past twelve months has seen crossing the £5bn mark. The super success of iPhone 4 has only added more to this.

DIGITAL SWITCHOVER WITH POET IAN MCMILLAN
The digital switch over has been done with much speculation and noise all around. None the less, people are all looking forward to getting much advanced and next generation picture quality and other TV offerings as such. But then again there are those not yet aware of the momentous analogue to digital television switchover as to how it works.
For the same the celebrated Yorkshire poet Ian McMillan has penned something special giving a tribute to the countdown to digital switchover in Hull. For the same there will also be a performance taking place in Hull at a shopping centre. For once, post the digital switch over, one would do well to remember that those still subscribing to analogue cable and without the subscriptions to digital equipment may as well end up not receiving any TV signal.
The new digital services will require that most people get a Freeview or Freesat ready TV set. As for the older TV sets, they will need an external digital box as also offered by Freeview. If not this, then they may still opt for the digital boxes that are provided by other broadcasters like Sky, Freesat, Virgin and BT Vision.
The website www.digitaluk.co.uk offers a complete know how of things giving all the details required. One may also call on to 08456 50 50 50 for any additional inquiry and have all his queries answered.
There are disability benefits in the offing for people aged seventy five plus or disabled. This help is offered by the BBC run Switchover Help Scheme. The switch over may be done all for the sum of £40. This will ensure they get the equipment, its installation and also a knowhow of using the new service.
The BT Vision box is a set top box and recorder which can take care of all your home entertainment needs, so you do not need to worry.
